Photoshop Smart Objects Explained in 2 minutes

How to use smart objects, in a 2 Minutes Photoshop tutorial. Smart objects are realy helpful especially if you want to work non-destructively in a document. A layer can retain its original resolution by converting it into a smart object. Smart effects and filters can also be applied which let you change any values later in the edit.

Can the user, as an alternative, under preferences, (Photoshop 2021) check "always create smart objects when placing" and therefore the image (in this or any case), of the classroom pic you placed into the laptop screen will not need to be converted to a smart object - - - ? Thanks

Does converting a layer to smart object make it take up a lot more memory or file size? I am working with about 100 layers in one photoshop file so that I can animate on top of them. Since having a 100 layers is already a big file size, is it beneficial to make the layers smart objects?
