Shoppers being banned for too many store returns

Stores ask for your drivers license when making a return for several reasons. It's not just to prevent theft, as most of us assume.  It's also because in many case your name gets entered into a national system keeping track of your returns.

I wish they would have asked Ron how many returns he made within the last year; I’ll bet it’s in the double digits. I’ve returned things to Best Buy, maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 12 months, and there were no issues at all.

Bestbuy has become a monopoly simply becayse of the no hassle return/price match guarantee. That's why they are the monopoly. Plus they have deals with manufacturers that they get the returned product back to them if they can't sell it as an "opened box" item. So there should be none of this! Its the cost of doing the insane amount of business!!!!

Usually the license is required for returns without a receipt for store credit. There's literally bums going through dumpsters returning stuff they never bought for credit. Another issue is returning an item when a coupon was used. If the coupon was not available at the store, you will get full purchase price plus the value of the coupon back in cash. If it's a single item, that's one thing but I've seen scammers buy a thousand dollars of make-up, tooth paste, and deodorant with several hundred dollars of coupons. At another location, they would return it a few days later and profit the value of the coupons.
