ADHD is like being at war with yourself. You know exactly what you need to do and you just never do it.

For decades, I accepted the accusations that I was just lazy and irresponsible and needed to grow up and act like an adult. Then, at 50, I got diagnosed. This hits sooo hard. Thank you ❤.

A part of adhd feels like you're a Sim and the person who's playing the game and controlling you is giving you a task them randomly decides give you another task and cancel the first one without you being aware of it, and it goes on and on

I’ve never just randomly grabbed a shiny objects, but I do stare at and collect shiny objects. I’m like a raven.

somehow the media never shows the crippling self hatred after being told "you have so much potential if you would just apply yourself better" ... wonder why

ADHD feels like when you have 100 tabs open and you’re trying to find where the music is coming from

I’ve gotten to the point of recording my mom saying things and setting it as my alarm and setting it to go off when I see something done. Living alone and all the sudden hearing mama go “DO THE LAUNDRY, NOW!” With zero warning sure does make me wanna do the laundry 😭

Accurate. You forgot “feel horrible guilt but still don’t do it until the very last possible second”.

So true, I have been sitting here for an hour refusing to do my laundry that’s on my bed even though it’s as easy as reaching 2 feet

FINALLY SOMEONE ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHO ACTUALLY UNDERSTANDS

So many tear-filled conversations with my parents, begging them to tell me how people just "do the thing". Still didn't get diagnosed until I was 20 and living on my own

As a person with ADHD that can get severe with forgetting to do things that are very important. I normally say I’ll get a snack then 4 hours will pass by and I will just be sitting hungry wondering why I’m not getting up and getting a snack same with drinking! And that’s seems to be something media doesn’t understand. People on the internet and people I know say “omg you have ADHD! Your cool! Embrace it” marking it as something cool or trendy and people don’t know what it’s about or does to people! So I find it amazing that you understand and can educate people about what it truly is and does not glorify it like other people online! Edit: If you haven’t DRINK OR EAT SOMETHING! And make sure to take a break! Love you<3

And then you tell someone you didn't get it done and they ask why, but you don't have a good answer-

Sometimes I wonder if I'm not the person in charge of my body but I'm the intrusive thoughts.

I am an ADHD world champion 🏆 procrastinator.
I know what I need to accomplish and this task regardless of its importance I run away from getting it done.
I become very anxious and it's like I am scared to just get started, anywhere.
I will stress and self-distract myself over thinking about how to start.
Eventually, I will suffer as I am getting this task accomplished.
Even if it's something I enjoy.
