ADD vs ADHD

I have ADD. I am more chill, calm, or relaxed. A bit of an introvert. When I was a kid, I was alway told to try harder and stop being lazy but then told "You're an intelligent person but how come I never see the work being finished? You need to try harder." and my mind would just give up and not care anymore. Now as an adult, Sometimes in life, I feel like too many things are thrown at me and I stop to care about it altogether. I literally become carefree. I also procrastinate a lot. I tell myself I'll do it later then actually forget because something else caught my mind and I've been hyper-focused on something I enjoyed doing more than the more important things 🤦
This has led me to miss appointments, pay fees, and other important stuff.

When you explained ADD I was crying because that’s what I’ve been called me whole life, lazy or lacking motivation. I never passed my maths because the learning style I had growing up was a bit aggressive. Lucky my mum was there for me and let me know that it’s okay not to be good at everything. Recently we discovered she had ADHD and I have ADD and we now understand why we have this nagging and annoying feeling of laziness

What a rosy picture you guys paint, the teacher holding hands with the struggling student, whole class together in support. Reality is way brutal. The "teacher" mentally harressing you over your struggles and the students being bullies and utterly useless. Even parents fail to protect and keep blaming you. I went through hell and back with my symptoms and lack of support.

ADD reached close to home. I was literally on the verge of tears. I'm not lazy like my parents say, I'm not unmotivated, I just can't concentrate.

I have ADD and SAD. I get called lazy and stupid 24/7 by my parents, and friends. No matter How much i try to consentrate or get good grades i literally cant. My memory is horrible and i cant even study for more than 1 minute without being distracted or bored asf, and ive got zero motivation to do anything that Im not interested in

I was diagnosed with ADHD since my teenage. Spent my whole life fighting ADHD. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with related health challenges.

2:10-2:42 As a 22 year old college student who recently got diagnosed with ADD, this couldn't be more accurate to what I experienced for years. I was a great student in high school and thought I'd simply burned myself out going into college. The consequences of doing academically worse snowballed until I hit my rock-bottom, but after getting treatment for the condition, the difference is far beyond what the term 'night & day' could ever emphasize. Topics that would've seemed impossible to grasp a few months ago are well within my ability to understand now.

Edit: For those asking for the type of medication I take, I’d rather keep that answer private, as not every case of ADD & ADHD is the same. In a parallel manner, sharing what I take might not be what YOU need. Getting consultation on the treatment you might need is something that should be done with your psychiatrist or a similar medical professional. Hope this isn’t taken the wrong way; intent behind the comment is to ensure those of you who also need help are encouraged to get the RIGHT help

Soooo many people think ADHD and ADD are the same but those of us without the "H" catch utter hell from spouses and bosses/coworkers at times because we aren't fidgety or display typical ADHD symptoms. It makes daily life an unnecessary struggle sometimes. Great video and love the drawings

I'm 33 and I just recently was diagnosed with ADD. But instead of having a moment of enlightenment about myself i only seem to become even more depressive thinking about how i got treated by my parents, classmates, friends, teachers, bosses, coworkers etc. and how absolutely devoid of any kind of selfesteem i ended up with: feeling useless, hiding from the world, not finding my place in it as if i were an alien... ive been in therapy for a year now.... i wonder if they can make me a functioning human being again...

I was diagnosed with add at a young and but people still get confused and think I’m lazy. :(

I got diagnosed with ADD just recently and my parents still complain about my homework and have no idea how difficult for me to do it, it is. I'm going to show them this and see if they can finally figure out that telling me to do it or you're going to drop down a class, or, you aren't going to make it into your school if you don't do this.

I was diagnosed with ADD and I am now 30 years of age, currently in a job where I get called lazy, selfish and even stupid . No matter how hard I try, it over stimulates my mind and I get confused .

As an ADD person I find it very hard to sit on chairs. Like I just CANNOT sit on a chair without getting up all the time, changing my position and so on. So I sit on the floor most of the time. In school I used to leave the classroom during breaks, so that i could find somewhere to sit on the floor peacefully. Can you relate?

I can’t believe I’m just now getting diagnosed. I definitely have ADD. I’m a senior and I’m probably gonna retake my ACT. When I took the ACT I knew it would be a struggle because I work slow and the test is timed. Even with all this pressure to work fast I still found my mind wandering away from my test and I kept getting sidetracked.

I've seen a lot of people confuse ADD with ADHD. ADD is ADHD without the hyperactivity. That's it. It's that simple.

I’m 12 and I haven’t been to a psychologist before. I’ve been getting ADD/ADHD symptoms, my parents say I’m just lazy and I need to pay attention and I would be more active and running around if I had ADHD. I hope I can get tested. It might not be anything but I want to make sure. I might just be overreacting. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Edit: I’ve gone to a counselor and she thinks I have anxiety. I’m fine now even though sometimes I have really tired days or really active days. I’m not worried about it much anymore, even though I think I’ve been having more ADD/ADHD symptoms unless it’s my anxiety.
