Thank you for sharing this video, I'll slice up some potatoes for my beetles. I've been going back & firth testing which vegetables my mealworms & beetles may like. They are picky little crawlers XD

I dont know if this helps you at all but the box I keep my beatles in had the bottom replaced with fine mesh then sat ontop of a shallower box, the beatles lay their eggs across the mesh then as they borrow around the substrate it causes the eggs to drop into the container below, any that dont fall thru fall thru after hatching 😅:) been a total game changer

thank you. just found your site. lots of babies. do you try to keep track how many beetles you have in one tray to roughly how many worms are hatched? I am trying to figure how long to let beetles stay in a new tray before moving them and leaving the eggs to hatch. I am just now learning so any hints are great. have a blessed day.

Thank you! I was about to throw out some old carrots and when I looked at it really well, all the dust on it was moving. So here I am researching if that is the eggs and babies or like some kinda mite.
They seem very mobile though, can they climb out of the bin and go everywhere?

Since the newly hatched babies are so tiny do they have any trouble climbing to the top of a couple of inches of substrate to find any food you leave there for them or do you need to dig down and put the veggies on the bottom?

I saw one video where the presenter said the babies don't need food the first few moultings. I see you put potatoes in with them.
I would assume they need some form of water supply. My first eggs are now hatching and I can see some movement in the bran.
Should I put a potato or carrots in with them?

I don’t have mine In crushed grains just normal oatmeal, I started 2/21 and it’s 3/8 and I don’t see anything should I keep waiting or shift through the normal oatmeal and put the eggs into crushed oats?, so sorry if this doesn’t make sense

Aren't you risking damaging/killing the baby mealworms by scraping at the potatoes with that spoon?

I'm having trouble keeping my baby mealworms alive. I've been giving the egg/hatchling mealworms Shredded carrots for moisture in their bran bedding... Seeing a lot of dried up carcasses. How often do I need to give them Shredded carrots to raise them for feeders?
