Intel XEON E5 quad core processor = £222
RAM = £142
GPU = (guess based on AMD FirePro W5000) (probably more) = £400 x2 = £800

That alone equals £1164 (entry level mac pro)
add on the superfast flash storage, osx, motherboard, audio, and the thunderbolt hype, i reckon its not as over priced as everyone else is making it out to be. (I'm not an apple fanboy by the way). Though i can't say the same for the top spec model, though, i cbf to look up all of the parts and stuff. 

Entry level mac pro = £2500

GPU's, RAM, and Processor, add up to £1164 - that's without the audio, storage, thunderbolt and the operating system, which includes a bunch of cool and useful software.

The majority of people moaning about the pricing don't realise how powerful and expensive a workstation machine really is, as most people i've seen on the internet compare the mac pro's with gaming machines.

Correct me if I'm wrong. (it's late where I am lol).

Wow a mac pro which is not upgradable at all. How is that pro?

After analysis in the images on the apple website, it appears that the memory and flash storage is removable, the mechanism that holds down the dual Xeon processors looks removable aswell. The photos indicate that every aspect will actually be removed and upgradable, not soldered to the motherboard.
