When adding an extension like this, off the gable side/long side, of the building, does the soffit overhang need to be removed to tie the roof together?

This is awesome! When looking at these types of interactive graphics, one gets the feeling that building or constructing these types of structures is not quite as daunting as looking at floor plans on paper. I am about to embark on my first design and build, “ and probably only“ structure of my life. But who knows?
