Well, we also make our potato salad with mayo, but it’s more found in the northern regions of Germany. The southern regions use vinegar more often.

it's always nice to see people from other countries enjoying our food. the german "cuisine" is very stable, healthy and tasty, i think. everytime while guys from other countries want the same: german beer and german food 😂. your video was very nice, and the ali in münchen was for me a new player, didn't knew him😅

Greetings from Munich! Nice video! Thank you for visiting Germany! The thing that they drank beer instead of water in former timer is a legend, I'm afraid. Why should the water have been bad? There was no pollution, no factory farming, no chemicals, nothing. So water was safe to drink. But beer just taste better than stale water from a wooden bucket 😂

There are two philosophies in Germany regarding potato salad. One faction prefers the version with mayonnaise (mainly northern Germany) and the faction without mayonnaise (southern Germany)

Hey, (German Granny here)
very nice video and your pronounciation of the German food names was very close to perfect.
To help you understand the difference between "Brötchen" and "Semmel": There is no difference in the item, it is just in the name. "Semmel" is the Bavarian word for the formal German "Brötchen", in some parts of Germany it would go by the name of "Weckle". In and around Berlin it would be a "Schrippe". And so on. 😉
About the potato salad without mayo: It is not true that in entire Germany it is the same. There are lots of recipes for "Kartoffel Salat" in Germany. Some with, some without mayo. Like you also mentioned at the beginning of your video, "typical foods" vary around the country depending on the region you're in. And so do the names of identical foods.
Greetings from Germany!

I watched many videos before our upcoming visit and yours has been helpful by naming some of the places you ate at.

I'm German and I love our beers and traditional dishes. But to be honest, I also love your Belgian Leffe beer and of course Moules Frites or mosselen-friet 😍

The food in Germany is just SO GOOD. We need to spend some more time to Munich to eat all the things! The weisswurst and pretzel breakfast combo is one of our favorite breakfasts in the world - the sweet mustard if a MUST. Great video guys!

Great video! I’m pretty sure I ate at the first tavern you showed in your video when I visited Munich in 2014. The food was very good. I remember it was very close to the large cathedral and not too far from the Marienplatz. I also ate some pastries from some of the street vendors. Everything I had was really good. It was May when I visited, but it was unseasonably cold during my visit so instead of drinking beer I stuck mainly to coffee and hot tea. Your video made me realize I want to go back for another visit. Maybe for Oktoberfest.

When you come closer to the north, you will find poatoe salads with mayo. The vinegar one are more from South Germany. And yes, Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn are from Austria. But hey, it's delicious
