Its wild how were so susceptible to branding and that were so willing to fork over all our money just to carry something like a water lantern

Another thing to consider is that unfortunately many brands of double walled stainless bottles test postitive for lead whereas Hydroflask (as well as a few others such as Klean Kanteen) consistently test as lead safe. For me it's well worth the extra cost for that alone.

Manufacturing cost is a tiny percent of the cost of a sold good.

Import tax, shipping, distribution, legal compliance, credit card processing fees, income and business taxes, benefits, lawyers, marketing, Amazon 15% fees, it all adds up.

I developed a $1 product feature. So far I have spent $40, 000 and am still 2 months away from launch. The finished product will be $30 imported from China, and I will sell it for about $70.

$40 profit? No. 15% Amazon fees, 30% income tax, 10% sales tax, business taxes, shipping, etcetera.

In defence of Hydroflask - the not-cheap soft bottles they make for Salomon et. al. have a lifetime warranty. Eventually they all leak (top caps often crack I’ve found) yet they are by far the easiest company I’ve ever dealt with when it comes to warranty claims. Fill out a short form, couple of photos including the serial batch number, and a brand new one is at your door (in Australia in my case) in a couple of weeks. I’ve replaced a number bottles multiple times over in the past 7-8 years. Perhaps not the best for the environment, but definitely not bad value long term. And it’s just refreshing when a company stands by their product.

honestly, maybe I've just been unlucky but I spent more on the bottle because I kept getting crappy bottles where the plastic seal would give and it was hard to get replacement lids that fit properly, etc. i did get my bottle on sale, and have since found some other reputable brands that cost less....but reliability on something even as simple as a water bottle is not to be overlooked

When I was 19, I bought a plus sized hydroflask for $30. I’ve drank out that thing 9/10 days for the last 5 years, covered it in stickers, no complaints. Sh was expensive, but its been worth it to me at least.

I’ve worked in the outdoors for close to twenty years and I use 14$ Nalgene bottles. They dont break, you can drop them without denting them. $45 for a water bottle is crazy.

Thanks for the Kleen Kanteen recommendation. I got it on sale for a good price and have been using it daily.

When it comes to logos … historically that’s the only way a company could prevent someone copying a garment, bag or shoes etc . The Louis Vuitton trunks became branded with an all over monogram because the trunks were actually being knocked off long before they had monogram logo like that . To this day no fashion designer can copywrite a design, and logos and original prints become the only thing the designer can claim creative ownership to.

Love how the end transitions so smoothly into the beginning for a seamless loop :)

Hydro flasks have been proven to be superior to other brands. I also have 4-5 of their products and they are of high quality. I just wait for a sale and purchase them; when their price is similar to Walmart brand prices.
But I must say, hydro flask is a superior bottle over their competitors.

This is why I got the RTIC. I live in Yeti Country Texas and before I could splurge for that I got a RTIC to see if it would work for a third of the price, at a large store before a long trip- it certainly met my expectations. (It was on sale for $13 for a 32 oz. wide mouth bottle)

I nearly bought a Hydroflask when I needed a new bottle, but luckily I came across your comparison video and went with Klean Kanteen. I freaking love it and feel like my money went to the right company. I actually ended up getting some drinking cups from them too.

There's a brand called Hydro Cell who makes a nearly identical product for about half the price of Hydro Flask, and they have held up better from personal experience. Very satisfied with them

I bought a knock off at Aldi and it was totally worth it. I also bought a better lid that I can fit a silicone straw in while it's closed (it has a small screw top)

The kleen canteens sweat badly. They wet my bag. Also I bought the cheaper water bottles and they leaked. I am willing to spend more money on a water bottle that won't leak. I bought a yeti and so far no leaks. But also a large Pizza that costs us $20.00 costs the pizza joint about .24 cents.

I got my hydro flask for free.99 when I worked at whole foods! We had what was refered to as the "water bottle graveyard" where people's lost water bottles would go. One of my coworkersher hydro flask during her shift, called the loss and bought a new one. I found it in the graveyard a few days later and she let me have it for free! I've had this water bottle for 5 years now!

I recommend Takeya, they have the great designs (specially mouths) and sometimes they have nice deals on Amazon.
