What’s the TRUE cost of owning a Luxury Watch?

When people buy watches, they usually do a lot of research but don't factor in how much it costs to own a watch aka the service pricing as well as spare parts etc. That's why its important to check service pricing so you aren't thrown off guard.

That's why I love'em Longines and below brands + Seiko & Citizen.

My vintage seiko has literally never been serviced, its nearing its 40th birthday and keeps better time than my modern Oris watches, I genuinely believe some Japanese watch makers are wizards 😂

This service cost is why I’m buying a Royal Enfield motorcycle instead of a Tudor watch for the same price 😂.

My brother literally thinks his Rolex never needs a service because it's a Rolex with a 15 year warranty 😂.

VC patrimony, purchased in the 90's never needed service till now. General rule, never send it in for service until its not keeping time or other issues arise. 5-6 year service intervals are just cash cows for watch companies.

Thank you for caring about your customers enough to inform them of service costs! I hope they appreciate it as much as I would!Thank you so much!

Rolex for example, a typical service price costs $600 to $1500 USD depending on model and year. Not a terrible cost considering the watch costs the same as a lot of cars. 7 years of oil changes cost the same as the one Rolex service.

That's why I bought a Longine Conquest 41mm but with a quartz movement
Still same built quality as the automatic movement, but since i don't wear it every day, i don't need to buy a auto winder or set the time every time i want to wear it

And guess what, service costs are non-existent. New battery every few years. Maybe fresh o-rings after 10-15yrs

Makes no sense to me to buy a 1000€ watch when the service costs like 300-400€

I bought a gold Rolex in Switzerland and after 40 years I still wear the same watch and I've never let my Rolex be serviced but it still runs well.

this is why i think we need high end quartz to come back. I still want to spend the money, but to be completely honest, at this pt in time, i don't care about movement etc. they're just becoming a marketing jargon

If service costs push you over the edge - you couldn’t afford the watch to begin with.
