Since I installed a fresh copy of Windows on a new pc, I haven't been able to open important files I have saved as XPS documents. -- The default XPS viewer is something you have to enable before you can use it. How do you go about that? Well, I cover everything in this short explanation.

what if you DO NOT have XPS in your apps?

The current version of Windows 10 works differently, but I was able to figure it out. Adding an optional feature wasn't on my Apps & features screen. However, on the apps & features screen, I did a search for "optional", at which point it displayed a system setting for adding an optional feature. Going there displays a screen of installed optional features. At the top of that screen, there is a plus mark to add a feature.
