I'm 68 y/o. Never listened to Metallica, Megadeth, etc until my grandson started liking their music (he's now 16 y/o) after about 4 - 5 years of guitar lessons. Now, it's literally "music to my ears" when I listen to him practice his tail off, every day, to get a song just right and realize how far he's come and how talented the original artists really are (or were). Today's recital piece...RIDE THE LIGHTNING. 👍

The bass in this song is fucking incredible. Literally sounds like thunder

Watching the flash run on his own lightning while chasing a flame-skeleton ghost with this blasting in the background is the metal as hell.

I love most songs by Metallica, but by far, this one has the best guitar solo and I love the intro.

It's the breakdown and solo that gets me every single time. Never gets old.

This intro is something else. It gives you the feeling of breaking into an elevator with a huge speaker and light up the whole building.

3:43 that's probably one of the best solos of Metallica

Like a token from the gods. My Christian mom handed me a Metallica CD when I was 9. Never thought mom liked “hard music.” 15 years later she tells me she got James sweat whipped on her face in the front row in the 80s. Saw old polaroids from those days. She definitely wasn’t lying. My first concert was megadeth and meshugga. Mother like son.

This is undoubtedly my favorite metallica song of all time, everything about it is perfect! From the intro to the incredible vocals, the pounding bass and drums! They captured all the energy of a thunderstorm from hell with this song! First fell in love with it as a young 13 year ols girl, and now I'm a 48 year old woman still headbanging to it decades later!

This was 38 years ago. Seems like only yesterday that I was listening to all these thrash bands. I'm 53 and while that's not that old, I'm not a kid, either. I tell the teenagers I know to pay attention and make time to enjoy your life because you'll look around one day and 40 years have gone by just like that.

Lyrics

Guilty as charged,
But damn, it ain't right
There's someone else controlling me
Death in the air,
Strapped in the electric chair
This can't be happening to me

Who made you God to say
"I'll take your life from you?"

Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flame

Wait for the sign to
Flick the switch of death
It's the beginning of the end
Sweat, chilling cold,
As I watch death unfold
Consciousness, my only friend

My fingers grip with fear
What am I doing here?

Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flame

Someone help me
Oh please, God, help me!
They're trying to take it all away
I don't want to die

[Guitar Solo]

Someone help me
Oh please, God, help me!
They're trying to take it all away
I don't want to die

Time moving slow,
The minutes seem like hours
The final curtain call I see
How true is this?
Just get it over with
If this is true, just let it be

Wakened by a horrid scream
Freed from this frightening dream

Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flame
