“It’s the greatest gig in the world, being alive. You get to eat at Denny’s, wear a hat, whatever you wanna do.” - Norm Macdonald

His whole career had a kind of jazz cadence, he never pandered, just explored, prodded and played with the freeform spirit of a hobo artist, he could be funny in so many types of way, from short acerbic direct one liners to 5 minute rambles. He was the funniest man alive and him not being alive anymore is still such a gut punch.

He didnt lose his battle with cancer. He took cancer down with him. It was a draw 😂😂😂 love you, Norm. Now heaven is a funnier place.

His imitation of Letterman’s laugh is pure insanity.

Norm as “Pigeon” on the Mike Tyson Mysteries cartoon was hands down one of his funniest roles. They just let him go nuts with the dialogue lol. RIP, Norm.

His last performance on Letterman hit different. He probably knew his time was cut short but had no idea how much longer he had... RIP you Canadian comedy legend

“I’m pretty sure, I’m not a doctor, but I’m pretty sure if you die, the cancer dies at the same time. That’s not a loss. That’s a draw.”

-Norm MacDonald

The moth joke is easily the greatest moment in the entire history of The Tonight Show. It may be the single greatest late night interview of all time. Norm always brought his A-game to Conan's show, more than any other late night host.

Chairman of the “Bored”, I never get tired of that clip. We’ve lost another great Canadian, we are all poorer with him gone.

When he showed up at Conan's last night of hosting "The Tonight Show" with the gift basket, and Conan thought it was a gesture of condolence, only for Norm to turn it around and say he'd procrastinated and intended to give it to him when he got the job, and then he read the card. That had me rolling, especially as someone who also was fired by NBC.

Norman's BEST moment was when he hosted the ESPYS. "Charles Woodson, the only Defensive player to win the Heisman. And NO ONE can ever take that away from you....unless of course you kill your wife and waiter"

Like so many great American comedians, Norm was a Canadian. RIP Norm.

6:00 is why I love Andy as well... "Somebody said I gotta show you something then they kick in a 4 mile hike to show you a dog turd..." YES. And Norm literally fell out of his chair. Love it!!!

He referred to himself as a "old chunk of coal" but he was a diamond in the rough. And boy he was the most shiny and most brilliant diamond out there. He was my hero and he will definitely be missed. Rest easy Norm.

I love the “that’s my lucky stabbin’ hat!” joke on Weekend Update. Also the week OJ was acquitted he started WU with: “This just in…murder is now legal in California!”

Watching his last appearance on Letterman, knowing he was silently battling cancer, and the way he began to tear up makes it that much sadder to watch. RIP
