Gosh I smiled knowing someone is trying to understand their employee with adhd. That alone speaks so much volume.

I have lost count how many times I have been disregarded for having adhd and autism. Always get oh don’t we all or oh that just in your head type thing.

I think a good start would be to shift from thinking about "managing" a worker with ADHD to supporting them

When I worked as a floor nurse on the 4th floor, and I had been sitting at a desk for too long without a break, the next time we needed something fast from the pharmacy, which was in the basement, I would sprint down the stairs, get the medicine, then zoom back up. The whole process took less than 5 minutes, but it would give me a mental reset as well as big muscle work, which was calming and refocusing for me.😂

I managed a great boss...somehow. he gave me my own space and a very small list of things that had to be done. Anything above and beyond was up to me. It all gets done o.o everytime. Why does this work so well.

Yes education for all employees about different situations like this is really a great opportunity not something that is imposed on the employees. I remember too well ignorance being all too convenient for employees and employers when they just get rid of the person with a disability by calling it something else than what it really is

Let's be realistic... workplaces and bosses don't have to deal with it. They can find some reason to fire you, especially in Florida. Everyone is basically expendable. It's placating nonsense unfortunately.

My son has an apparently neuro-divergent manager. We think he may have a traumatic brain injury or perhaps autism. He has an autistic adult son. He is very difficult to work for.
