The main difference between a Romanian deadlift and a stiff-leg deadlift is the degree of knee bend. The Romanian deadlift allows for more knee bend, creating a smaller angle between the hamstrings and calves at the bottom of the movement, while also emphasizing a greater hip hinge with the butt pushing further back. In contrast, the stiff-leg deadlift involves minimal knee bend, resulting in a larger angle between the hamstrings and calves, with the hips staying more forward. Both exercises target the glutes, hamstrings, and lower back, but the Romanian deadlift places more emphasis on the glutes, whereas the stiff-leg deadlift shifts more focus onto the hamstrings.

These are both RDLs that bias the glutes or hamstrings. An SLDL starts from the floor on every single rep

In Rdls you have to push your butt outside as you bend
In SLDL yoh have a slight bend at the knee and just bend.

For those that's having a hard time . It's literally the same exercise. The difference is to target the glutes. You keep the weight closer to the shin. Allow
The weight to slide down your thighs as you somewhat sit back.

The second one same same exercise but it's more of a reach with more space in between the shin and the weights it triggers the hams and there's.
Less of a hinge.
Stiff leg just means less movement restricted

But that's also not a stiff legged deadlift. All dead lifts has to START AT THE GOUND .. KEY WORD DEADLIFT... the key difference between a RDL and a deadlift is rang of motion. SO TECHNICALLY HE'S DOING A STIFF-LEGGED R D L

This is an OK illustration except SLDLs can keep the BBs close to the legs just like your RDL illustration. The main difference between the two is SLDLs have less knee bend.

Stiff-leg deadlift as you show it = recipe for lower back injury. For your age it's forgiving, i wish you won't regret it later in life. You MUST always keep your hands as close as possible to your legs.
