So I'm trying to refinish and old pool table (snooker actually), a 100 year old table.

I'm not 100% sure what the wood is but sanding off the existing stain has taken forever. The stain leaves little what can best be described as dots after much sanding, more in some areas than other, some areas big time. It looks fine but when I wipe it down with a damp cloth they pop out big time and the old stain seems to smear. Eventually I get them but then the wood seems lighter in some areas and browner in others.

So how do I even out the wood color or is the wood just old and that's the way it is?
I saw your wood bleach video and was wondering if that would help? If so, can I use that? Then re-sand and stain over that?
I'm getting close to the stain phase and want to make sure my wood prep is as complete as is possible.
Any advice is mush appreciated.
