I would be a prime candidate for this device, but I would prefer to make an app myself that can automate this. I go through domestic abuse all the time in my home and I have to record, transcribe and store a ton of audio for evidence. And this would be ideal... But a subscription!? Wtf.

There's an old version of Google Voice Recorder android app, which was ported for all devices and does voice transcription offline, on the device. The new versions of the app are limited to pixel devices I think, but the old version can work on any android device. I think that would be a better option than this device since it doesn't require internet connection.

The little slide switch is for phone recording (red) or note (ordinary voice) recording. Presumably a sensitivity setting.

Oh damn, careful with this pouch lipo battery cell 😅. There's a significant risk of fire and breathing nasty toxic chemicals if punctured or bent the wrong way.
Glad that didn't happen. It was uneasy to see a metallic item behind it too, which could have shorted something.

Of course, it could be pricy with the subscription. But this one does have a specific use case in which could be very useful for some. The fact that it could last that long on a single charge of battery, I'd say this one does it better than some AI gadgets out there.

Looks a little better than the dragon dictaphone i used to use. This also could be carried around, would record at the touch of a button, and would transcribe all the recordings, came with software, leads and even batteries..

Something like this might worth it without a subscription, even it meant having a companion app you had to run locally but seeing as you can literally nab Whisper’s models for free and there’s certainly freebee apps if not building your own feels criminal as it’s a voice recorder that automates only the transcription using free-to-download open source.

Since we pretty quickly discovered, that AirTags are a great stalking device, we can pretty much assume, that this is a great stalking or even surveillance device as well. It is so easy to hide. Please tell me, that you cannot get the data from afar, but need to be actually holding the device...

Not only is this e waste. This thing looks like a prime candidate for a security vector that could be hacked. What if the thing is ALWAYS listening and selling the data.
