Do antidepressants change your personality?

I can guarantee that they do change your personality cuz I have experienced this . psychiatrist always say that antidepressants have nothing to do with personality and it might just make you extraverted or less neurotic but if they can change these things that means they can change your own personality cuz extraversion and neuroticism are considered as personality traits so they are part of who you are.!!

It will change your personality, I have experienced this. Afterwards I couldn't recognize myself in the period that I used Prozac. I lost awareness of consequences and danger.

They somewhat numb my emotions, I feel neutral about everything, I care less about what happens if I can put it tht way

Neuroticism is one of the five personality traits of a person. Antidepressants decrease your neuroticism. Therefore, your personality has changed.

Sometimes people are only used to the struggling version of someone so when their mental health improves again it’s seen as person X becoming a completely different person. All these drugs naturally come with effects that can alter one’s persona but it’s not as simple as being able to get away with claiming that person X intrinsically changed beyond external (emphasis on external) recognition. You just wouldn’t have seen what ‘normal’ X was like in the beginning. Everyone with any kind of mental condition has a base personality which may or may not be affected by their condition when they’re ill. Getting run over by a bus would leave Ronaldo incapacitated for months but it wouldn’t necessarily render him permanently ineffectual on his feet. Just injured for a season.
