This was Lowkey helpful. For anyone who wants to know: here’s what I’ve learned about this topic so far:
1: distribute or combine like terms
2: add or subtract
3: multiply or divide variable
For step three, I have something that usually caught me off guard when doing problems- when I would see something like 2x, I would forget that 2 is already multiplication so it’s automatically division. In simple terms, when doing these problems, just do the opposite of everything. I haven’t come across a single problem where that isn’t true. Oh, this is division? Multiply. Oh, this is addition? Subtraction.
No solution: is where there is no longer a number (z) or (x) or whatever you want- so it could realistically look like 10=10. Whether it’s true or not, that’s on your judgement, 10=10 won’t be the case for every problem that you do, and
Infinite solutions
Is when there is more than one solution. This happens after step one when you realize you have a lot of options
