The very first time I saw the image on the shroud, many years ago, something deep inside of me felt certain it is Him. As if I recognize the face from personal experience. I never felt that way before or since. Even after they "proved" the shroud a hoax in '88, I simply couldn't accept it, based on how I felt about the image. I consider myself a man of reason and tend to prefer evidence over my own feelings; but on this, I had to go with my gut. This new evidence seems to be a great validation of that instinct!

I was teaching confirmation students at San Luis Obispo mission (1988) when I first heard the negative reports. Never bought into it.
I was a retrograde then too.

It was a woman who was a seamstress or weaver, who made the observation that the weaving/repairs on that section of the Shroud was different than the original weave/material. That is how they determined the area cut from the Shroud for testing was from the 15th century. (as told on one of the EWTN documentaries on the Shroud)

I remember being angry about the Church supinely accepting the conclusions of the scientists without seeing the data. If the Church had demanded to see the data, it would have been obvious how inaccurate and inconclusive the dating was.

For the first time projective geometry and photogrammetric survey, operating for many decades in the field of archeology, have been used to study the Shroud of Turin and the Sudarium of Oviedo. The Shroud reveals a new phenomenon, a shocking reality.
The fabric features distinct and sequential images released from parts of the body and moving objects.
The phenomenon is similar to the result of stroboscopic photography. A single frame is impressed by the light reflected by a moving body, when a flash emits a series of flashes at very short intervals of time.
The right hand is clenched into a fist in pulling an object, identified in the long belt of a tefillà tied around the left arm. This shows the voluntary movement of a man in full physical form.
The same right hand in another position, the lower one, shows instead that in that instant the body was already considerably detached from the horizontal plane on which it had been placed.
Even the left foot, the left hand, the nails, the tefillins, are surveied in dozens of distinct positions in sequence.
The results of the last few years confirm several times that a pulsating source of energy, distant within the body, a source of penetrating energy, radiated in the two opposite directions all the atoms of the body in movement and of objects in movement. The projective scheme of it has been identified.
The strength of these results lies in the objectivity of the data and in the repeatability of the photogrammetric restitution.

The Holy Shroud of our Lord Most High is the Mantel of the Altar where He serves us the Sacrament of His Sacrifice, a picture of the Resurrection and a receipt for His payment of our Sins .

Frankly, I find the Flat Earth Theory more respectable, logical and less delusional than denying the Shroud is real .

The problem with science and trusting the "Science, " is that people don't understand that when studies contradict each other, it becomes time to review the validity of the tests.

Thanks for clarifying about Guadalupe’s tilma. Still, the shroud & tilma both Jesus & Mary, are miracles against our current understanding of science. God transcends time & space as we know it. He can do anything to leave evidence that He wants.
I love that we just cannot conceive of it yet faith tells us.
