This video continues to serve humanity and educate lesser mortals like myself on how to fix the dreaded F5E2 flashing on my whirlpool washing machine. Sir Andrew did earn a lot of goodwill with his effort in making this video.

Instead of removing the spring-loaded wire ring, which is super hard to put back on, I went in through the top and removed the big weight over the tub (just 3 big screws to remove, which was easy). That allowed me to access the box, unplug the wires and pull the box out for this fix.

Thank you Andrew for publishing this solution. It saved us from having to wash clothes at my daughter's house because we're leaving in 36 hours for my other daughter's out-of-town wedding. So, super stressful when the washing machine went on the blink earlier today.

Dude, you are the man. I can imagine how much money you just saved me at a time where I can't afford it. Thanks for explaining in depth enough for someone who is normally not good at such repairs. Thank you!

I don't comment usually but I just told my wife to call a repair man to come fix this as I was out of ideas. About 10 minutes later I ran across your video. Thanks I appreciated it. You saved me alot of money. I always try to fix things myself we just moved into this house with newer washer and dryer. Our old one was so simple had it for 25 years with me fixing it when needed. Thanks again for the video.

Thank you! My daughter and I reapaied our washer door this evening. We struggled getting the spring clamp back around the rubber seal. But we are washing again. Thanks!!

Hell yeah! Worked! You saved my ass. Nothing a few beers and a smoke to tame my mind before this repair - pretty easy. Thank you Brother 🇺🇸

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for posting this. This was exactly our problem, and you saved me the cost of a repair bill. Thanks! Oh, and for others, yes, getting the spring-like de retainer ring back on is a huge pain, but it's a lot easier if you have a helper to hold one section in place with a screwdriver. Also, put the spring itself in last - much easier that way.

Thank you so much! This was exactly what happened to my washer door. For those who were wondering how to get the door open, my door was stuck in a 5-click cycle while the alarm sounded. I figured out it was the lock engaging and disengaging. If I pulled on the handle at the right time during the clicks, the door opened.

Man you saved me such a headache! I opened the latch assembly trying to figure out what was wrong and I completely missed that guide pin being out of place, the spring above it covers it well. Thanks again!

I know it's been 7 years since you posted this, but it sure came in handy today. I'm here to say that if a 57 year old Gramma can do this following this video, anyone can! Andrew, you are wonderful! Thank you so much!

Man, you are great! Thanks to you I got rid of the headache and saved money. I've had LG for years and never encountered any problems. When I looked at this crappy Maytag door lock I remembered my LG.

Thank you so much, Andrew! I was able to fix this myself today and saved a lot of money, time and frustration. I wasn't able to get the spring-loaded wire back around the rubber tub area but was still able to use the washer. I'll get someone to help me as it seems from comments that it is a two-person job. Thank you again for posting this!!

Thank YOU!! and thank God I found your video! It fixed the problem...I can't believe such a small piece of metal would stop this machine from working...I don't know how you figure it out that that small hook was the problem (and I don't want to know) but thank you for taking the time to share how you fixed it. It took me longer to put back the spring around the rubber than to fix the actual problem...(i need a video for that lol) thank you so much. God bless you!

This was awesome. It's exactly what was wrong with mine. Fixed in no time. As for the spring use a pair of lock grips. Put the spring on half way 12 - 6 and lock the players on the end of the spring and pull it. As you do you push the rest of the band onto the lip. Super easy. Thanks for the help and info!!

AMAZING! You just totally helped me fix my washer! My local service place wanted $140 just to drive over and look at it, even before parts and labor and the 'off-track' spring was exactly the problem. Whole thing fixed in 30 minutes. Stay awesome.
