Moving a Synology Plex Server Docker container install to a NUC running Unraid.
Показать описание
Docker containers are easily portable and can be moved to a new host system.
I show the little bit of knowledge needed to move a Plex Server container install on a Synolgy NAS, to a little NUC running Unraid, while pointing back to the media that's still on the Synology NAS.
The media could have also been moved to a full Unraid setup if desired.
All that matters is that you have a good actual host (physical) path in the new container configuration, and that you name the Container path exactly the same as what it was in the previous setup.
On my Synology NAS the Container Path was... /plexmusicmedia
So that's what it had to be in the container configuration in Unraid.
The host path is the real path, and that simply needs to be pointed to either the same spot, or to the media in a new spot, without any modification of existing structure.
On my NAS, my true or host path for all my movie libraries in the container was... - /volume1/plex/movie:/plexmoviemedia:ro
And the new host path under Unraid for the new Plex container is... /mnt/remotes/SYNO1520_plex/movie
With the actual folder structure of plex/movie/[and my various actual movie libraries] not changing.
Learning how to setup a Plex Server container on a Synology NAS is mildly challenging, but worthwhile.
Setting up Plex Server under Unraid is very easy, while only the initial Unraid install is a bit harder.
I love the Synology ecosystem and that’s where my media is going to stay, while the Iris Xe iGPU in my little 11th gen i5 NUC running Plex Server is going to kick ass for quite a while.
Thanks for watching.
