As a people-pleaser, I've struggled to set boundaries but I'm much better at it now after lots of work with my psychologist. I'm much happier ☺

My therapist said to me today...it’s easier to set boundaries with people who aren’t close to you. And start with friends before family. This piece of advice feels more attainable than trying to tackle all of it.❤️

Regarding the saying no to people. Since I know I struggle with people pleasing issues.

My trick to make it easier on me and say No, is, before hand whenever someone approaches me and i have the hint they are going to ask for something, in a funny approach I say “No, I can’t ” then laugh it off and ask them to tell me whatever they were going to tell me… it makes it easier to put a boundary there and actually help myself say the real No, if I need to.

This is usually with peers and family, when It comes to my boss, I learned to straight forward to say another task I have at hand. And if it is needed rush ask what should I do with the task I had before.

Hope this helps to anyone.

well here a gift that I'm grateful that I decided to open youtube before I start my day. wow thanks for reiterating and also reminding of the things that I'm working on that maybe some people in my life don't realize that I am doing slowly and making changes into the positive. But one thing that I've learned is the only thing I can control is my reaction to anything. the power of no, Boundaries. I'm not going to write a book but there's a lot of things that you say that people actually don't want to actually acknowledge they'll say the opposite. And me I'm very much a realist and the fact that hey we want to think in the negative about things, but let's try to work on being positive and putting that energy out there. I want to say your energy came across to me very genuinely happy upbeat and energized so I hope you got what you needed and that you're still taking time for yourself. your an amazing person. I really appreciate how you reinforce the things that I'm working on, but you also remind me of things that I need to improve on. And also thank you for never coming down on anybody you come across as you're talking to me not at me. That's my personal perspective on what I have watched throughout youtube.

I didn't get the chance to expand on this earlier, but something that helped me with that people pleasing issue is to focus on making myself somebody I like. I like me, and people who don't like me have their own problems. My own mother doesn't like me and continuously rejects me, so healing this wound has been particularly difficult for me. ❤️

Setting boundaries remains a mindblowing challenge for me, partly due to my autism, but also because I've long been around people who promoted the view of "be able to handle what others think of and say about you". I've never distinguished between taking the hit and speaking up because as far as the other person is concerned, their thoughts about me are their truth and "who am I to change that"?

No idea if this makes any sense, but it was a thought I just had!

Excellent video! I'll start paying attention to those more. I do tend to get caught up in all the bad things and forget what is going well. I hope your break was restful! <3
