Alien Romulus Review 🤬

Alien Romulus is terrible! Don’t let Fede Alvarez touch another alien or xenomorph movie ever again. Horror is dead on planet LV426 or wherever the hell this movie is. Put Ridley Scott back in control of the alien franchise.

I had my doubts in the beginning but changed about 3-5 minutes later. My interest was stoked after Andy was revealed as an Android. It kept my interest up to the very end because I wanted to see the mother’s baby alien .
Scott put in a couple of familiar scenes which I thought were okay (for nostalgia) .
Overall ? Good !

Alien Romulus felt like an updated Alien Resurrection, nothing really new or added to the Alien universe, a strange hybrid humanoid monster in the end that ends up getting blown out to space (sound similar? 😂)

I think it was an awesome opportunity that was missed to do something with the Amanda Ripley character, like a movie based on the game, something like that

Best Alien film since Aliens. Solid plot, great performance by the two leads, and yes, some fan service that largely hit.

I honestly had a hard time liking this movie:

1. It was hard for me to like the characters, both main and supporting.
2. I felt the storyline was bad.
3. Not sure about the music really.
4. A lot of scenes felt rushed and fast paced.
5. Aside from the ending, not much creativity, not very original, was more just memoirs and lines from the old films.
6. The acting was okay in some degree. Couldn't understand what they were saying most of the time.
7. Not a fan of humans and robots co existing and living with each other.

At one point I felt like we're not even half way through or at the end of the movie and nothing serious has happened. I really had high expectations and wanted this to be as good as the 1st and 2nd films, but I'd say it's down there with all the other bad Alien films.

A very cheaply made film in my opinion if anyone disagrees have it your way.

I liked Alien Romulus because of the display of the traditional xenomorph, and its more organic and rusty production design. I enjoyed it more than Prometheus and Covenant for sure, which have an extensive usage of CGI.

Alien Romulus is one of the uncanny cases, which theres people legitimately praising the movie, and other legitimately hating, both (most) are fans of the franchise with all ages.
I saw old schoolers saying this movie is back to the roots giving a new start to the franchise, and old schoolers saying this another pile of generic shit and the franchise is dead since Aliens.

So my question for you is are you even a fan of the original alien movies? This movie in alot of ways are just the best concepts of the original films put into a new movie with a different setting with a new twist. If you are an alien fan you have no reason not to like this movie. It pays tribute to the series in almost EVERY WAY.

I'm right there with you. This was not a good film. This wasn't a good alien film. This lean too much into fan service ideologies, hokey one line call backs, relatively lost and dumb story. Does nothing for the franchise. LAME ass hybrid Alien ending. Haven't we learned our lesson yet??! I loved the first 20 minutes, setting up the world in which people live in, in the alien universe. Fantastic.That's really great unfortunately it evolves into just junk after that. And the xenomorph... just starting to treat them like dumb monsters. this is supposed to be the perfect being, the perfect killer that you're literally combing space for ... why??? You just wrote it as a dumb monster and it's lazy and disrespectful. Also, This feels like two executives sitting in an office going. "We need a horror Director. Let's get a horror guy"and "bring it back to roots" that's hollow corporate sschilling. now people just echo chamber that same sentiment on YouTube and the Internet and we get a meh film. Don't EVEN get me started on that dog shit attempt of fusing Ian holm into a "new but familiar" android that that pops up to explain the film to you...This movie doesn't really have an identity other than it tries desperately to call back almost every alien film which stands in its own way. This movie rings hollow to me, It's bullshit. 4/10
