Don't forget that even if a company tows all the lines and is a good little puppet, it also applies to any partnerships they might undertake.
Say the company doesn't pull its ads from Twitter after the buyout, then the ESG cronies can say, "Hmm, so you are doing business with Elon Musk? Tsk tsk, ESG reduction."

I only took a few semesters of community college, but there’s one burning truth I learned from my single semester of Economics: An economy only does as well as its government leaves it the hell alone.

That’s not even a conspiracy theory. The plain truth is that no one person— no one committe, even— can possibly understand every single need of an entire nation’s markets. Just let the people actually doing the buying abd selling either buy or sell what they need or want.

This is perfect timing I just did a presentation in business communication about a company with the stupid esg score. i was confused how environmentalism has anything to do with being a good business, but then I remembered that this is college and business classes are about feelings not effectiveness

I've gotten to the point where I've began telling the sales reps that come into our company that if they have an ESG score, we're not interested in doing business with them. And I love seeing the expression on their faces when I tell them to make damn sure to tell their bosses that I told them that.
