ESG Explained: Socially Conscious Capitalism and Its Backlash

Republican state leaders have been pulling billions out of pension funds managed by investment firms like Black Rock. Why? Something called ESG. It stands for environmental, social and governance, and it's at the center of a heated debate over whether socially-conscious goals should factor into business and investing decisions.

There has been little regulation of ESG so far, but things are changing. Rules are coming both in the US and abroad. In this video, we explain what ESG is, why it’s become such a hot topic and what regulation — and litigation — we can expect in the near future.

People need to be aware of this and put an end to it with their wallets.

funniest part is that ESG doesn't actually mean your company is socially or environmentally responsible. It just means you consider the impacts of your shitty decisions even if you do them anyways

I will look fore companies that have a high ESG score as a marker of bad management and risky investment!

My wife and I both moved our retirement funds out of ESG companies. I want nothing to do with this woke nonsense.

It's actually scary how well ESG is covered up, only a minor few actually know about this regulation. People probably don't know that ESG is also heavily spread into Korea.
The FSS introduced a new ESG guideline RIGHT at the start of 2020. That's when things started really going downhill. ESG has taken prevalence since 2020, this is sinister.

Black rock and corporates should not be allowed to decide what their employees or shareholders should think.

It is not the business of business to create social policy or advocate for it. It is the obligation of business to follow the law. Our legislators decide on social policy. If you’re on the right or on the left, you will have very different ideas about what that social policy should be, but I think both the right and the left could and should agree that business has no business engaging in social engineering.

This was informative, but still felt biased. More coverage is needed of how ESG has resulted in leftism being forcefully imposed on consumers.

I like how the editor knew to use the comical silly music at 1:58 when she starts lying about how it's "all about business and shareholders". It's literally the opposite, Stakeholder Capitalism is a response to Shareholder capitalism. This is the reporter working this beat, and she doesn't know that?
