DIY Floating Shelves

Показать описание
This floating shelf is designed to be mounted anywhere. In this instance my customer wanted floating shelves on a wall with metal studs. As you may know when you have metal studs your pretty much stuck with using sheet rock anchors. So this is the design I came up with. You can mount these pretty much anywhere, they will hold up to 100lbs. All items purchased at Home Depot. Wood is from CMPC.

Good stuff. Look into the dowel method also. Much easier/faster.

Upmost respect to anyone that can use the drywall plug things to hang shelving. Mine always falls off the wall 😂 I have to use studs or nothing

instead of using the metal brackets you made them out of wood nice I defiantly gonna modify my shelves they sag with the metal bracket. Giving issues thanks for the idea

Easy way to do it, but this probably has the lowest limit weight of them all. Great for small shelves that will only have pictures and knickknacks

If you can find the wooden joist brilliant as the plasterboard crap for holding weight!

I am curious as to how much weight a shelf of this design can support.

What type and gauge nail is used for this? I can't wrap my head around the fact it can go through several inches and stop without blasting through the other side? Also it's the same nail used when attaching the side piece and the top piece even though the side piece is longer?

No need to level the support before fixing firmly to the wall?

Great vid! What screw size do you recommend for mounting bathroom accessories onto a tile wall?

Bought a set of Hillman anchors for tile but realized the screw is pretty long (1-7/8") . I don't want to risk screwing into a Romex cable, what size should I get instead?

The anchor is 1 1/8 "

I'm considering getting 1 3/8" or 1/ 1/2".

Surely you could have hit at least one stud, right?
