So I had Is this surgery this past Monday. While I was being prepared for surgery my surgeon told me that he was expecting a "very quick " recovery for me. I honestly thought he was just saying that to cheer me up. 4 days post op, I definitely think he was genuine when he said that because my recovery has been somewhat of a miracle. 0 pain. I haven't taken a single pain killer. I haven't even taken advil. I wasn't even prescribed any over the counter medication. They wrote down oxycodin ; but they said that they didn't think I'd need it. So far, they were right.

Do you have an update a year out? Where would you rate your pain if you don't sharing?

I had decompression with transposition 8 days ago. I didn't even have any pain for the 1st 5 days after surgery. I had a little bit of pain on days 6 and 7, but nothing over the top. I went to the hand specialist yesterday and they removed my cast. They said my stitches look good and that my lack of consistent pain was a "very good sign". They told me to move my elbow relatively consistently and do some exercises. I go back to my surgeon next Tuesday to get my stitches out. Should be lifting in about 2-4 weeks

I have this surgery scheduled 3 weeks before I'm traveling to Europe. Good thing is that I'll have nothing to do once in Europe and can relax, , but do you think I'll be ready for a transatlantic plane ride with a suitcase 3 weeks post op?

Eric, I have to have a ACDF and a ulnar nerve surgery my Nuerosurgeon wants me to have. The EMG guy said I need to have this or it will be worse. It's right elbow to pinky and ring finger right side. How did you do before surgery and what did they do? Thanks, Debbie

Well I see this was 4 years ago, how well did this work out for you? I am having this done with carpal tunnel in 5 days. My hand and forarm literally feel like a club and a very heavy paperweight if i bend for too long. I'm actually wearing the brace all day on really bad days now. I hope you got sensations back. I would take a small patch of numbness over this anyday!

I had bilateral ulnar nerve release surgery and I'm currently 16 days post op. I know it's not ideal to have both arms operated on at the same time but I just wanted it over and done with. I may not have opted for bilateral if I was having a more invasive transposition, but in my case the surgeon wasn't too reluctant to perform the surgery as he said I was a low risk of infection. I haven't experienced any pain yet, however I'm very concerned about my lack of grip strength, I can barely hold a pen with my right dominant hand. I'm a drummer by profession so I have to take some time of work. I am preparing myself for the worst case scenario which is that I may have to permanently give up playing. Holding a drumstick just doesn't feel right anymore :/
Anyway thank you for the video. You're a very knowledgeable and smart guy and I hope you have made a full recovery by now.

So I wanted to check back in with you. I had mine done last month. It was a subcutaneous. I love it, I went back to work as a welder three weeks later. Now I'm sitting in my surgeons hospital because I had a horrid reaction to the sutures. It's gnarly. You can look down into my arm and see clear through the fascia. The sub Q layer is 1.23 cm thick ( stuck my depth gauge in it). So my surg had me brought in for emergency surgery to open it, take all the sutures out and debride it.

Thank you for sharing. I just had the same procedure on Dec 13th and I still can’t extend my left are like you can. I’ll be starting P.T. Next week I pray they can help me gain strength and help me flex and extend my arm. The recovery is much longer then I anticipated.

Just stumbled across this! I’m 3 weeks post op from cubital tunnel decompression with Transposition. This video helped me a lot, This post op SUCKS! And I was not prepared for this mentally! just started therapy for strength and desensitization. I agree that I don’t see how people have both arms done at the same time! I have to get my left arm done soon.

Loving this guy. I haven't found a more blunt guy on here, other tham some of the orthos on here. I tore my cubital retinaculum (sp?) while I was making welders at work. The repetitive stress had me feeling horrid nerve pain in my wrist at first. A year later my hand is useless. It took my employer a year to legally acknowledge it. I can't imagine having both done. But I have had bilateral SLAP/RC tears that required subpec tendonesis'. THAT was a bitch. Had my first surg in 14 and my last in 16. Took 3 for my left and one on the right. They say the recovery is XX months. Bull, I considered myself healed in about 2 years. Just enough time for my back and hip done twice, in one year. I agree 100% it is a REAL shock to ypur body to have multiple surgeries. I had a right labral allograft in my hip, 10 days after I had an L5/s1 fusion. That made me think alot. That was a VERY hard recovery. I am using the neurosurgeon that did my fusion also do my elbow. I honestly don't think after having three years, of three surgeries is going to top this, but I have had botched jobs before! I wish everyone on here all the best. My advice to anyone thats on the fence to do a few things. 1. Take the time to research the condition. 2. Watch the surgeries on here 3. Talk to MORE than one surgeon/doctor. Education is your best friend

I had a major elbow injury I tore had an radial head replacement, UCL tear and annualar tear. I had a surgery to repair it and 6 months later had another surgery because the radial head replacement failed and came loose. While my surgeon was operating he also moved my ulnar nerve. My question is can you feel the nerve running over the your forearm now? I feel like mine may not be healing well?

Just found your video. I had my transposition surgery 4 days ago. Still all wrapped up and in the sling. Did you experience intense itching ? How did you deal with it?
