Dumb light bulbs are far from being dead.

Consoles aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Ouya and OnLive both went bust. There are so many people with crappy internet connections, specially those who live in small towns. And even if you have fibre optic super fast connection, it's still not fast enough for certain twitch reflex based games like First Person Shooters, eg. COD, Battlefield, Counterstrike, etc. By the time the signal from your button press goes to the cloud, gets processed together with the graphic and back again to your TV, you'd already be dead.

I think this guy is living in a technological bubble that only engages in the future devices while neglecting technology that exists in mass form currently. Streaming service?- Go over the data cap on your internet plan. Smart light bulbs?- Expensive and meant for people with smart homes (AKA wealthier people) Point and Shoot cameras? - Ehhh maybe he's right on that one

I can see the dedicated GPS Unit dying considering how much hassle it is to update maps, sometimes you have to pay, the touch screens are usually really shitty and they're slow to respond.

I still want unconnected items in my life. When the WiFi goes down, nothing works. I don't think all this will be smart until the simplification of the source becomes reliable and easier to use.

Gaming consoles as we know them aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Network speeds are still far too low to make game stemming a viable option.

Gps will still be here for a while because if you use your phone on road trips for gps you use a LOT of cellular data

Cnet you do know that navigation on you smartphone uses data, right? Whereas a GPS unit does not need a data package, and once bought is always free to use. Therefore there definitely is still a purpose for GPS unit
