You don't become a nerd because technology is everywhere. Technology is getting easier too use, and some people I know won't even know the difference between a coax cable and a CAT5 cable, much less know you can "make them" on your own at home.

That Ethernet cable isn't even close to being crimped correctly. The RJ-45 end should be crimped onto the sheath of the cable.
