I disagree, the Action 4 is a superb camera and with the Action 5 it will only get cheaper on the DJI refreshed site - so if you want a solid camera BUY the Action 4, if you want the latest thing go buy the Action 5 (when it finally ships)

Besides the Action 5 having better battery life and Better Low light (subjective) the Action 4 looks to be the better option even if you don't own either. I love my Action 4 and if I didn't have either from the videos I'm seeing, getting the Action 4 at a discount or official refurb option (Like I Did) from DJI is the way to go IMO

Weird thing with the Action 4 and also the Action 3 I own is that the top left corner is always slightly out of focus. It's the same on both cameras and no idea why that is the case. That it might be stabilisation but either stable on or off it is the same. Watch footage of the original Action 4 reviews and depending what's in the image you will see it is out of focus only in the top left corner.

I'm still using the Action 3. I personally don't like the DJI Mic 2. I think it's so damn bit and it flops around on your shirt. I like the Hollyland Mark M2 because it's so tiny. For that one you need an adapter, so that why I don't care to upgrade to the Action 4.

So basically its the most reasonable action cam you can buy right now, since even the newest GoPro Hero 13 Black cannot compete, because it still consistently overheats rather quickly just like the previos 4 generations. The Insta360 Ace Pro is technically a slightly better camera but has the flumbsy flip screen, which is great for filming around and vlogging but definitely increases cost unnecessarily and reduces durability. The Osmo Action 4 creates great videos, while being cheap, very compact and very light, which is very important for an action cam.

It doesnt really matter as much, if you accidentally destroy one because its cheap to replace, its best for flying on fpv drones because its light and again cheap to replace and it still excels in not as perfectly lit scenarios, which are often also scenarios action cameras make sense in.

I'd probably even buy 2 Osmo Actions at a slightly higher price even if I wanted to buy a more expensive action camera like the GoPro or even Insta. But If you get an Insta360 you could go all the way for the 360° camera X4 instead. Both the GoPro and Insta360 Ace Pro are in a weird spot.

"Dont buy it" refers to the fact, that the Osmo Action 5 is just around the corner.

I hope the Action 5 Pro will have better functionality and more dynamic range. Also better low light performance. Just want a single, durable, long lasting, sturdy camera I can use for nearly any type of video.

Leaked images from action 5 pro show the same sensor and apature as action 4... I dont think these improvements are gonna be as substantial as some people think.
