I've spent close to 20 hours researching this topic. The DJI is better priced if you go for the Adventure package.
Battery last significantly longer and doesn't take hours to charge it and more importantly, the DJI works reliably. The GoPro has a better quality but their tracking record when it comes to reliability is terrible. The Action 4 had a lot of issues when it came out but the most recent framework has fixed it.
If you have unlimited funds, I'd pick the GoPro. If you're conscious about your spending and want something that is dependable and works great, The Action 4 is your got o.

Just placed an order for the DJI Action 4 Adventure Combo after watching this. The battery charger case, quick-release mounting kit and USB-C Audio input all made so much more sense over the GoPro. Thanks for sharing the review.

Watching on a 4k monitor the gopro had a lot more detail. However, it was noted in the video that the sharpness was turned down by two on the DJI so it would have been nice to see them back to back at default settings.

My own eyes 👀 don’t deceive me, the GoPro just looks darker throughout the entire video as compared to the DJI Action 4. I prefer the color pop on the DJI Action 4 more, which just has more light and just looks better. Had plan to get the previous version with the Action 3. But it’s a no brainer for me with the never model in the Action 4.

I was in th mall to buy an action cam to bring when I am driving with my motor vehicle, saw a pricey GoPro 12 and an Action 4 with a good price but was undecided between the two.
ended up buying Action 4 after staying in the mall for about an hour while watching some reviews and this. Thank you for this review!

Returned my OT4. Watching videos back on a monitor the OA4 showed a lot more compression issues at a resolution of 4k. Texture and detail was just missing from roads, snow and grass for example. I’m sure it would have been picking it up but the processing just lost them. Also, over than very low light the GP seems to still do better. One think that finally made my mine up with the firmware update in the EU reducing their max working temp to 48degrees (bringing it in like with GoPros). I started getting warnings come up saying max recording length of 9 mins at certain settings after. Happy with my GoPro 11 now, no over heating or freezing (as peddled by most of the sponsored YT videos and then regurgitated by views)

I think the DJI colour range has more scope to colouring unless the Gopro is not in its flat colour profile or whatever it is now.

GoPro is darker but the colours have more detail. The sunset in the back at the beginning looks really nice where as the Action 4 has just a bright sky in the back and no nuances.

Uk prices today GoPro 12 £399 the Action 4 £289, my decision was already made as GoPro subscription was a scam as they offered me the 12 for £339 in a sale and also the same price for non subscribers, onto Dji I go, great review btw

As I understand, the Hero 12 adds a 1/4” standard tripod socket, which for me is a huge positive that wasn’t mentioned. Thus, as nice as the DJI magnetic mount is (which GoPro should definitely adopt), the tripod socket may win out for me. Also important to note DJI front screen is touchscreen whereas GoPro is not. Also, would like to hear more people talk about any differences in the ease of editing and their software, as well as any integrated apps.

Sold the 10 and 11 Go Pros, got fed up with the over heating and switching off, also the when connected the camera to the phone it loses single alot anf you have faff about trying to connect agan. Dji are the clear winners hence why iv switched. Would never by a go pro again unless they address there faults which they never do and just re package it every year with no major changes.

Here’s the thing, DJI visually has more light. Nothing you can’t adjust in post. I always would rather have overexposure than underexposure.

Have been using my hero5 blk, hope GoPro proves them selves this year because I have multiple GoPro accessories. If not I’m switching to DJI. 🤞🏽

Thanks for the review. You didn't mention anything about the long recharging time on 5he go pro. I got the GoPro Hero 12 creator package a few days ago. I'm currently debating whether I should return it to get the Ace Pro instead. However, I'm concerned that the Ace pro is having a focusing problem based on some YT reviewers.
