Solid load. Might I add, the most important thing I found loading any of the M's including earlier M's like the M2&3 is that the bottom of the film should at least seat flat or strait with the silver bar that it's on. 1:08 As long as you have that silver showing and your film is straitly positioned, probably 10/10 chance the teeth will catch the sprockets when you shut the bottom plate up. Leica made a brilliant system but you do have to just make sure you take half a second to push the film down strait enough.

You don't have to align and advance the film before putting the baseplate on it. The baseplate will align it for you.

Why sometimes the rewind nob won’t turn when I advance a few early frames of the roll?

Also another question, is it typically expected that the rewind lever should move on every single advance? I noticed in my camera today, around frames 24-26 it didn't move at all, around 27 it started to twitch again, so I am guessing maybe there was some slack in the canister again?

Hey Nico, great tutorial :-) I've been shooting the M6 now for about a year and only had a mis-load once where the film didn't catch in the tulip, so statistically I'm doing pretty good. A question for you though, I've never seen anyone do one advance while the back door is still open, so in totally, for every new roll, are you doing 3 "pre-advances" 1 where the door is still open, and then 2 & 3 are when everything is closed again as you need two advances and shutter releases to get to frame 1 in the counter?

Hello, thanks for this super useful video. I have a question I recently had a Leica as gift and I found with it a box of Kodak 200 Gold in 120mm. Can it be loaded in Leica M6 or not?

The pick up spool might be a brilliant idea but there's a certain level of uncertainty that goes with it. I prefer my M3 for solid film transport over my so called "mechanical perfection" MP any day. I would even go as far as claiming I am loading my M3 faster and with more confidence as I don't have to fiddle around with it after loading as I KNOW it's loaded properly.

You almost did it correctly as per the manual, but you did the unnecessary spool up.

It's too expensive. 5k for a freaking film camera😅

Get your fingers out of that poor camera 😭 use the baseplate as intended, maybe first read the manual 🤦‍♂️
