The Trinity Test scene in Oppenheimer might be the most terrifying, brilliant, and breathtaking scene & sequence I ever remember watching in a movie theater. It was absolutely incredible & awe inspiring, which is impressive considering how many big bad massive explosions we've seen on screens for such a long time.

He didn't set off a nuke he used a big normal bomb and recorded it close

CGI was used. It was just not purely cgi. CGI was was to make the effects look better.

I wish they would have used CGI. The scenes in the very beginning of the movie are more spectacular than the actual nuke scene.

You gonna know that if you build an atomic bomb like the one in Oppenheimer for a few shots, you’re killing every person on that crew for a movie
