Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent

Exactly like my theater too. Silence right until the blast starts being heard then everyone jumped

The build up and countdown to all that was something that I’ll never forget, WOW. And I was just sitting there in awe, just waiting for the sound

Dude seeing this on an IMAX screen. When the countdown started it was like my heart was beating out of my chest. And when the detonation happened it was like death happened to you. And when the shockwave hit you it was like: bam!!! Shocked back to life.

It was like the only jump scare in the movie.

Experiencing this sequence in IMAX is the most intense thing I've ever felt in the theater. The build-up with Ludwig's amazing track, followed by the nerve-racking silence, in anticipation of the earth-shattering explosion, there is no better way to execute this scene.

This is how audiences should act in a theater. When I went to see spider verse grown ass men were jumping and cheering at the references and cameos.

I can still hear the woman crying her eyes out in the silent audience during this scene. At first, I thought it was ridiculous. Then I started getting choked up out of nowhere. Every person in the country, if not world, should watch this movie. Maybe 30 or so times for all government officials

It was beautiful but terrifying at the same time

Never in my life i felt this much anxiety and intensity from a movie before. These 7 minutes, how i wish i could experience it again for the 1st time. It was so intense that my friend beside me actually grabbed my hand and looked into my shoulder. When the explosion finally happened, my friend sank into her seat waiting for impending boom- 20 seconds of silence and then finally, the loud boom that shocked us both so bad im pretty sure the people in our row felt their seats move back

The explosion shown in the movie was so underwhelming. Feels like 6 barrels of gasoline explosion than a nuclear bomb.
I know Nolan wanted to do practical but this is the only time I disagree with Christopher Nolan not wanting to use CGI.
The actual Trinity test explosion is much better and bigger and I feel like Nolan should have atleast used historical stock footage of Trinity test which is practical obviously and would have looked 10 times better than the what we saw in the movie.

the tension was more terrifying than the actual explosion

This was the first film I’ve seen in an IMAX theater. I remember hearing the film reel every minute that went by into seeing the film, especially during these silent moments in the theater, and appreciating the aesthetic of the cinema and that silence in the theater went the bomb went off was just so beautiful and perfect. Every event in history that occurred in this film led up to this moment in time, and then BOOM. What a true masterpiece!

Just got back from seeing the Oppenheimer re-release and I’m not even kidding, this was truly a haunting scene. I felt so scared before the bomb dropped and as soon as it did, it felt so silent and for a moment you were looking at something beautiful and terrifying at the same time. This is an appropriate reaction for a movie like this. I had no words.

Robert Oppenheimer was the real life Thanos damn!!
But fan of his artwork from India 🇮🇳❤️

I wish Nolan would’ve used some CGI instead of being fixated on keeping everything “real”.
A nuclear explosion is nothing like a chemical explosion that was shown.
For a film that was advertised as scientifically accurate, it was underwhelming and left many disappointed.

The famous lines of J. Robert Oppenheimer

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Its a build up of excitement and fascination, then quickly turns to " what have we done...."

It’s absolutely amazing how we all thought this would be the loudest scene in the movie and then it was completely silent. Absolute masterpiece!
