My only rule to read more and not go into a reading slump as a mood reader: read the books you want to read, not the books you think you need to read.

Something that helps me to read more is to be reading multiple books at the same time. Like having 1 physical book, 1 eBook, and 1 audiobook in progress at the same time.
I know that doesn't work for everyone. But for me, as long as the books themselves are pretty different from one another, I don't get them mixed up. And I feel like it helps me to finish more books, since I can fit in reading multiple ways throughout my day in whichever format works best for the moment.

“Taking the book with you every where you go” YASSS!! I’ve found that just reading off my phone helps me get soooo much more reading done and at a faster rate. But I still have a soft spot in my heart for physical books. They’re precious! 🥰

For me, if i’ve read like too many average or 2 star books consecutively, I go into a terrible reading slump. Also, we need to recognize our interests like what genre we prefer, what kind of tropes we enjoy. That makes us enjoy and pick up books more.

Some people think they don't have time to read but they spend hours watching 📺 or other media every day.

I don’t have many friends who read.
So I always watch booktubers before reading and sometimes play video of Reading with Me while reading. When I take reading break, I watch another booktubers’ video.
It gives me motivation.

I absolutely agree audiobooks are a game changer. I just got into audiobooks and I am flying through books. I am such a slow reader with physical books. Listening to audiobooks at double speed on their own or even while following along in a physical/ebook has increased my ability to read substantially. Highly recommend.

I find a lot of people that ask me how I read so much haven’t tried to read diverse genres. Friends tell me “I love historical fiction” or something but they never pick up a romance or a thriller because they don’t want to end up disliking it. I am trying to make a point to read as widely as I can and it’s been helping a lot. I also try and make sure I read a fluffy book now and then if I’ve been reading a lot of heavy stuff. ☺️

i definitely agree with the audiobook tip!! i can listen to an entire audiobook in like two days without even realizing it.

I’m so bad at reading before bed, I almost ALWAYS stay up all night reading 😂 I plan to just read for an hour or so, and suddenly it’s 8am and the book is finished!
I agree with these tips, audiobooks and especially through libraries have been such a game-changer for me

I'm like you--I am a night reader. I can't read before work because I don't get up in time to give me time and also I can't focus because my mind is on work, and I get antsy. I've been doing audiobooks the last six months or so, and I listen to it every time I am in my car and going to and from work or when I go and run errands. And I always have books on my kindle ready to go wherever I am. Great tips by the way!

I definitely get through the majority of my books while audiobooking during the day. I usually have one going in car/at work etc. and one going at home (usually one I have a physical copy alongside). I'm super lucky to have a job that makes it possible for me to sometimes just sit and listen while I mindlessly typing away.

The biggest time consumer for me is definitely social media scrolling and Youtube, but I try to fit in an hour of reading on most days in the evening, and then I try to read something before bed, but since growing older it seems I fall asleep like 10-15 minutes later, but I do it because of the health benefits it gives you. I used to always read in the morning, but I don't any longer (only in weekends).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and sorry I'm so late in responding, I'm trying to catch up on all the booktube videos.

The thing that honestly works the best for me (other than audiobooks, which are great) is putting it on my to-do list that I have to read for an hour and then setting a timer. It forces me to do it and cross that thing off and then most of the time I'm into the book then so I wanna keep reading!

I LOVE Forest. I’ve been using it for years. It is great for not getting distracted while reading

Great tips! I always weirdly forget about audiobooks. Took your advice and ended up listening to more than half of The Last Mrs. Parrish today!!

Thank goodness for audiobooks. If I didn't know about Scribd, I wouldn't be able to read as many books. I am thankful at my job I can listen to audiobooks. My issue is finding time to read. I am constantly driving my daughter to her sports so audio is a savior for me. ❤📚

Audiobooks have really been a game changer for me in the last three years. I always have one on when I’m out running errands, my morning walks, and I’m lucky to have a few hours at work when I can listen too. So I can get at least two audiobooks completed a week. I also use my finger as a pacer to eliminate regression when I’m reading a physical book (Evelyn Wood speed reading technique). All of your recommendations are great advice! ❤️

Gabby, I've been watching your youtube videos for awhile and I love your channel. I'm a 66 year old woman so you wouldn't think we'd have a lot in common. You haven't steered me wrong on your recommendations yet.
I'm a former book lover who got so bored with what I was reading like bodice ripper romances and James Patterson-like books. This year I've opened myself up to more genres thanks to you and @
J A C Q U E L I N E. I also read more than one book (usually different genres) at a time and I'm loving it. Can't wait to see more from you.

I have am ADDICTED to audiobooks, I listen to the them while cleaning the house and at work (1 earbud so I can still be present around my colleagues LOL) and since having to work from home it's just been awesome, I also created myself a good reads challenge for the 2nd year this year and I try to have a physical book I'm reading to next to my bed.
