Here it is at last: the new Ford GT. Almost a year after it won the GTE PRO category at Le Mans, we've driven Ford's new GT supercar in road-going trim.

Ford will build just 1000 of these GTs over the next four years. Each costs $450,000 and each is impossibly trick. The tub is carbon fibre and seats two occupants close together. Behind it is a 3.5-litre engine making a whalloping 647bhp.

But it's in the suspension and aero where the real genius lies - and why the GT is such a competitive racing car.

But does that make it a good road car?

This iteration of the dominating late 60's le mans GT40 is indeed leaps and bounds. A technological marvel, I think, and much sexier than the previous Ford GT.

The power to weight ration is exactly why this car has a V6. and ignorant people who want to talk shit about the Eco boost also seem to forget that almost every other car on the market has a name for their direct injection twin turbo cars or hybrid car. Eco boost is just a clever name, nobody said it was any more or less fuel efficient than any other car. Yes its a V6 and if it was a V8 not only would the power to weight ratio be off, it would be even less fuel efficient than a V6. Is it a Veyron? Nope but it did win Le Mans and Daytona, and it did it while looking cool.

Awesome review, and I don't normally like Autocar reviews. Loved all the tech talk. Makes you appreciate what went into this car a lot more.
I understand the lack of a V-8, harmonious engine noise, or certain comfort features has caused some negative feedback, but this car is doing exactly what it was created to do; smoke everything else on a racetrack.

This car is much better in materials quality than others supercars, even the top glass is Gorilla Glass and is all made entirely in carbon, not meant to be luxury but rather to be a super car, effective and super efficient on the road. Superb
