Why use the neck and middle on the strat? If you wanted to do a more direct and apt comparison, you should used just the neck. Otherwise it’s more apples and oranges.

The dynamic range on the tele is beautiful. You get different tones depending how you pick or pull the strings.

I've always preferred the strat neck pickup. It has more upper mid presence that allows it to cut more in a band setting. The dark sound of the tele neck pickup just gets lost unless you compensate with EQ. Then if you happen to use those settings on the tele bridge pickup, look out for your ears!

The Tele option is chosen for me since with standard wiring bridge and neck selection is not possible on a strat.
Substitute individual pick up switching for the 3/5 selector and you run the risk of a 'dead' spot p.up selection with all switches in the off; but you will have now the option of neck and bridge and all three . a total of 7 pick up selections.
Address hum issues that may arise..how..that's the challenge. BUT it can be done..

Strat had balance on bass and thin strings. Tele had more bass on fat strings and treble on thin strings. But for difference is more for playin confortable and still...
