1: People have actually gotten to the bubble gum in jaw breakers
2: There is Bubble gum in jaw breakers

Makes sense, the soda water probably helps dilute the overbearing sweetness from the sugar (plus I hear it has a slightly bitter taste, which probably also helps)

Makes sense that it would taste best with soda water.

Jawbreaker is 90% sugar, so the shot was very sweet.
All the sodas are basically that, too.
Sugar with more sugar doesn't sound good.
That being said, when you water down and add a little fizzle, that sounds like the best possible outcome.
