As someone from Appalachia, born and raised, I can confirm that things are definitely...odd here. It's not just that there "isn't much to do" but go out in the woods or exploring, it's that extreme sense of isolation or remoteness that most only experience temporarily when they go camping. The feeling of there's "no one out there" but also "there's something out there." You're surrounded for miles in either direction by woods, trees, mountains, hills, streams, creeks, etc.

Even when you're in the center of whatever one-horse-town you find yourself in, the heart of "civilization" still feels like the middle of nowhere.

It's incredibly peaceful at times but like all fear and creepiness, the places that feel "safe" becoming disturbing is the most disturbing of all.

Appalachia is a beautiful place to visit, especially if you're looking to eventually have one of those "tell that story for the rest of your life" or "never speak of it again" kind of experiences.

Either way, glad to get the notification super early, because I always enjoy these and the Letters From A Cryptid Hunter.

Thanks for continuing to entertain at such a high level.

The "phantom whistling" is actually a bird common to the area. Yes it really sounds like a human whistling. Birds can make some really strange sounds.

"there's something hiding in the Appalachian mountains." Not really, we're just hillbillies and most people ignore us, which is what we prefer.
