Managed to 1 shot 4 hulks in a row with the rail gun all in 1 heavy base, was glorious

Autocannon is a good choice too, no charge, and if you bounce a shot into a fabricator vent, you can take it out! Has medium armor piercing and is explosive, so you can kill every bot enemy. Cannon turret and tanks will require positioning for weak spot hits.

This video must've been before the nerf. Don't really see the railgun getting much use anymore. Anti-materiel rifle is the way to go for quick precision kills on bots. One shot to Devastator heads, two shots to Hulk visors, four or five to a tank's vents. One shot on all bot troopers.
Plus the scope is good out to 200m, makes spotting and covering easy

Very first use of a railgun, on my first shot, I used unsafe mode.

I remember in the first helldivers the rail gun was so nerfed it was rly just used to stun anything it shot while everyone else shredded them

Haven't unlocked it myself, but have used it. It's an absolute beast.

I've got the orbital rail cannon though, and might stick with the recoilless rifle even after getting the rail gun, since I can use it to shoot down dropships, and it deals a ton more damage if a shot on a weak point isn't available.

Once you figure out the timing of the unsafe mode your basically the best support to take out hulks and berserkers. Highly recommend starting a medium game first to get use to the timing. You will blow yourself up at least once
