In this video, we're going to talk about how to control your emotions, deal with negative feelings, and express negative emotions. When it comes to emotions, we all have them. Sometimes they feel inconvenient, like when we get angry easily or cry on demand. But what can we do to control these emotions and get through difficult situations without letting them control us? In this video, we're going to discuss 5 ways to letting go of negative feelings. From replacing negative thoughts with positive ones to seeking out support, these tips will help you manage your emotions and get through difficult situations with ease!

Dr Tracey Marks, a psychiatrist, references the practice of “distress tolerance” which is the skill of being able to accept the emotion that you’re feeling without resorting to coping behaviors that make your situation and overall condition worse and manage emotions. The main points regarding this emotional self-regulation is awareness of your emotions before reacting, controlling your reactions, and expressing them in a healthy way.

In this video, we will be sharing a few tips on how to better regulate and convey your negative emotions.

As someone who is very emotional but never learned coping skills with it your videos have been so soothing to listen to. Thank you

I have a major problem when it comes to negative emotions, and I tried talking about it with people a couple of times, but I'd either be nervous and explain it horribly, or they just wouldn't care. Even though these are still just videos on the internet, they do help a lot more than I would expect.

Very much needed. My mom is a narcissist and she would always get mad and frustrated with me when I wasn’t happy. I’m a 32 year old mess but I’m working on it.

2:37 "you may have been taught that any show of negative emotion makes you a lesser person, undeserving of support and love" well yeah that's me, that's my whole life.

Perfect timing, this is exactly what I needed :') I've been repressing my sadness these past days, I think it's time to listen to it and let it all out, thank you for this video 💕

As I got older, I learned not to fight negative emotions. Instead, calmly let it flow and then let it go. If you fight feeling angry and offended, then you already are, you're wasting energy

This video honestly couldn't have come in better timing.... It's really hard for me to not dwell on the negatives sometimes, and while I have come a long way with how I let out my emotions, I still slip up every now and then. As of lately however, all this negativity I've been sitting with just seems to be existing for no reason.... All the more reason for me to take note of these reminders ❤

I’m going on a field trip, And my minds just comes up what bad things could happen. I start to over think and thinking I might regret going, but thanks to people like you I can slap those negatives in the face. :)

I have lots of difficulty in saying how I feel because people have always invalidated my opinions. Every time I say why I am sad or why I am angry, people say that those are stupid reasons to be upset about. It has happened so often that I grew up not expressing myself and this made me scared of starting or joining any kind of discussion, resulting in social anxiety.

Storing emotions inside me makes me feel stressed and uncomfortable, but if I say them, I feel the cycle repeats.

My kids are Autistic and I was also recently diagnosed with autism, ADHD and Tourette’s… showing me how much I have struggled with my own emotions has effectively made being a single parent so much harder. I have emotion regulation cards and posters up on the wall talking about impostor emotions vs what we are actually feeling. Using the cards helps get everyone on the same page and then we can identify triggers that we can work on as a family….. but to be honest it’s really hard to pull out my cards with other family members like my parents…… because my father doesn’t want to address his emotions….

This topic remindes my on a very deep talk with a realy good frend I had resantly. But I think she didn't realy understand my problem (or I didn't understand. We were arguing about that. 😅). 'Cause my problem isn't that I block my emotions, I actally can't feel any emotion at all. Not even sadness, happynes or love. And the main problem is that this doesn't bother me. I'm fine with feeling nothing at all, but the whole world seems to have a problem with that. I often get told (mostly by women) "omg, why are you so cold?", "why doesn't this disturbe you?", " what's wrong with you?!" or "you need help!"... 🙄

Retreat into myself. The positive side of this approach is introspection. Which is a helpful tool for self-growth and dealing with things. On the negative side, I may prolong this process to a point that it finds its way back to depression.

Working out at home really used to be my happy chill pill. But the motivation for the workout came from this girl that I knew back in middle school and had a crush on. The girl that motivated me to be nice and just do nice things in general. After realizing she was too good for me I got so depressed and stopped working out for 2 whole bloody years... So now I wanna thank this channel for reminding me I shouldn't workout for someone else. I should do it for myself...
