Was the Nintendo 3DS a failure?

The 3DS was and still is one of the greatest consoles to date, well at least to me. Many memories were made on my childhood 3DS and it's part of the reason Nintendo is my go to game publisher, but the 2010s were a bit rough for Nintendo. The 3DS, Wii U, and Switch all came out, but were 2 out of the 3 consoles failures?

The Wii U and 3DS were the last remnants of Nintendo "soul". The systems didnt just play games, you played WITH the systems. You could take pictures for in-game use, scan qr codes, do AR stuff, listen to menu ASMR or change the menu themes, collect free badges, the second screen was sometimes vital to overall gameplay, then we get the musical eshop with the animated downloading screen, and streetpass which would contribute to mii plaza or other games for free items or bonuses. Also the tons of exclusives, including the last generation of differing handheld counterparts of console games.

Now we have the Switch, the downgraded version of its previous self. With removed features making it more basic than the Gamecube itself; like the lack of camera, important apps, a basic silent eshop, pointless NSO extras, and a small library of exclusives despite being 5 years old. I hope when the Switch successor arrives next gen, they'll remember to bring the soul back that time

The 3DS was the first console that I saved up for. When I was a kid I had a 5$ allowance at the time. So it took me a few months to be able to afforded it but it was worth it! I was a early adopter by the way :)

The 3DS and Wii U were so slept on when they came out it makes me sad because those 2 consoles were my first Nintendo consoles

The 3D function was not something that I ever used though (it gave me headaches)

3DS was definitely given a second chance and even though it was not my "favorite" handheld, it grew on me in its later years. I oddly have bought, sold, bought again at least 3-4 different 3ds consoles before settled on the new 3ds mario edition.

3DS is definitely my favourite era. So many good games and online gaming was much easier than on the DS.

I just got my 3ds xl in my birthday last year! It’s so cool! I played Mario Party Island Tour (pls don’t judge I kinda love the game), Super Mario 3D Land, NSMB2, Mario kart 7, and more! The games are amazing! Not only can you use the touchscreen to do a variety of things, but there is a camera, streetpass, and find mii! I appreciate nintendo to do this hard work in the 3ds! I love it!

The 3DS was a fantastic system. My only complaint is that not many developers tried to push the hardware limits besides capcom and atlus. The majority of developers opted for the chibi artstyle which kinda hurts my soul when compared to what the 3DS is capable of with titles such as Resident evil and monster hunter.

My mother gave me a 3ds for Christmas in 2014
I went through all my ups and downs with that thing and took it everywhere played a lot on it. I stopped using it around 2018
The lcd was damaged and it had black spots on the top screen. So I haven’t used it since then.
Today I was at my uncles and saw my cousin still playing on his 3ds playing old Pokémon games shit gave me nostalgia then I found out it was discontinued I didn’t pay attention to Nintendo too much for years so I didn’t know and saw that it was going for a lot of money. so I came home and after digging and digging to find it making a mess I found it with all my games still in the case. I found out you can still fix it, since all I have to do is buy a replacement lcd, and remove the current damaged one. I’m gonna renew it, not to sell it but to play it again. That thing was nostalgic, it’s like a history book for me especially when I had a lot of memories with it. Love all my gamers!

To this day, I still use my 3DS and check Streetpass Mii Plaza regularly along with Nintendo Badge Arcade

Being straight foward the nintendo handhelds was the most entertaining and conveniant way to play games on the go cant carry your home console boom have it in your hands RIP 3ds lost but not forgotten

3DS was amazing. I own a switch and a switch lite for my me and my son but I find myself going back to play some 3DS exclusives on my 3DS . So the 3DS was amazing.

Nintendo 3DS was and still by far the best Nintendo console ever released it has more futures than Switch(sorry guys but for me Switch is a failure not Wii U or 3DS).I remember also 3DS had more sells than PS3 and Xbox
