It's not magic spiritual power, and it's not staged or fake either - it's just isometrics. These exercises are useful in martial arts to understand how the body transmits power and how to control it. The purpose isn't some practical scenario (since it's unlikely you will be in such a specific isometric scenario in a self-defense context), but rather to develop intuition about the control of your own power and exertion of muscular energy.

If this can be used in arm wrestling it will be great

I think it’s about anticipation. Because the one gripping is adjusting his grip strength according to how the other one resists to it. So if he relaxes, the grip will relax, and then he will quickly move his arm taking advantage of the other’s lack of grip and not tensing his body to counter the resistance.
It’s more of a strength and resisting game than emptying the mind. Though it’s a good metaphor…

Karate encompasses life in all aspects. I love this

There's also technique to holding. It's not strong if you do it wrong, but it is a good lesson for a subtle advantage on those who aren't experienced enough at grappling.

There’s a very mystical element to karate.

Hmm it seems like aikido. The movement of energy it self

Actually if you do it on your own hand you can experience this. Quite amazing. The harder you resist, the stronger your grip, but once you relax your arm, the gripping arm loses all strength too

In fact there are so many common points between karatè and aikido. Very interesting.

This is the essence of orig. Wing Chun too: stealing the opponent's power. It goes in the way that you change the direction of pulling (or pushing) for a so tiny part that the partner doesn't even notice. And his power direction is unnoticeably redirected. Can be used in a clinch occasions, also at judo, ju-jitsu, aikido. But no teacher knows much about it.

The technique is when your opponent tightens your arms with all his might you do the same at least for a awhile then what you do is loosen your arms or strength and you notice your opponent will do the same and your opponent’s strength gone too.

It's not about strength. It's all about leverage. No one is losing strength.

his life experience in martial arts show his understanding of skill and technics, some skeptics maybe say this Bulshido, but this is not.

I believe it's about tightening the stomach muscles.
When he pulls hisbarm, you tighten your core, when he suddenly releases the tension, you release your core in a try to not fall forward ....
