If you’re not deaf, you probably don’t realise you have a hearing privilege. Deaf rights campaigner Drisana Levitzke-Gray tells us how we shouldn’t feel guilty about this – Instead we can put it to work and join with the deaf community to make a fairer and more inclusive world. Drisana is the embodiment of the concept of ‘deaf gain’, not ‘hearing loss’. She cares deeply about encouraging the wider community to accept diversity. Drisana was the first deaf Auslan-user to fulfil her civic duty as a juror, deliver a TEDx talk in Auslan and consistently promotes a positive image of deafness, which states loudly and proudly: “It’s OK to be deaf”.

1:56 this is also assuming that people get up in the morning and say "phew thank goodness" and insert whatever" privilege the speaker said a moment ago.
