How To Open/Disassemble a PS4

How to disassemble the PS4 to get access to the Motherboard, Disc Drive, Hard Drive and PSU for repair, cleaning or modification.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all phat PS4 consoles are identical and depending on the model your console might have some slight differences. Like having clips instead of screws at the back 2:46 and a locking tab for the DVD drive ribbon cable. 8:09, Or even additional screws. With those models you should push down on the tab to release the ribbon cable, as it wont come free by pulling it out as it did with mine. As for the clips you can use a flat head or plastic pry tool to release them.

DO NOT just yank the ribbon cable out @8:11 There is a latch that you need to press to remove without breaking. $12 for a new one.

While this didn't completely solve my ps4 problem, by combining it with the manual inject and eject screw for the disc drive I FINALLY have a "functioning" ps4 after over 6 THANK YOU SO MUCH this video was easy to follow and saved me scrapping my ps4 over nothing but a trapped 5p piece!!!

I purchased the proper security torx bit from True Value hardware for about 15$ in a kit with a bunch of other exotic bits. I would prefer not to break the screws if I can avoid it. I had to open my original PS4 and put tape over the touch sensor for disc eject and that "fixed" my phantom disc eject with beep issues. Also I open it and clean out the fan with canned compressed air. But I never took out the power supply when I did that, I will take it out next time I clean it. I bet there is a lot of dust bunnies deep in there ! Thanks for posting this video.
