the hover feature on the pencil is WAY better than I thought it would be

This is the FIRST time I have seen someone actually talk about why it is GOOD to have a non-laminated screen on the base iPad, THANK YOU!

The biggest complaints are mostly related to price. Countries other than the US are suffering from insane amount of increase in exchange rates atm and a slight price increase translates to stupid amount of bump in other currencies. For instance, the price for 10th gen ipad increased nearly 50%, and the 12 inch ipad pro increased nearly 30% around here. Pro sure, but lotta people are finding it hard to justify the price tag of the base ipad, given how you could get something like an ipad air 5th gen or galaxy tab s8(that comes with a pen) instead of spending on an ipad that uses apple pencil 1.

I think the main problem is the significant price increase, but without improved feature such as laminated screen. If they keep it at below 399 without the laminated screen, very few will complain.

The hover feature of the pencil was always VERY good on the surface devices with the surface pens.

I’m glad someone agrees with me on the non-laminated display. I give my kids the base iPad. 2 months before I replaced a 9th gen digitiser.

Just a correction, the hover feature is present and very precise in Wacom Tablets already, this is pretty much the same but it's a very nice addition.
