I recently did a couple of detailed videos here on the channel about how I draft and make pencil skirts, and today I wanted to show how exactly I make my full circle skirts instead! A-line skirts will be coming soon, what other styles would you like to see?

More from me?

But wait there's more! A PO BOX finally wahoo!

First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

This is so helpful!!! I've watched a couple circle skirt videos before but none of them explained well enough for me to understand what to do when making a circle skirt that's too long for the width of fabric. Thank you so much!!

I don't wear skirts or dresses, but I still watch every single one of your videos because I love your voice.

And your snarky comments are fun too!

I learnt about hemming with bias tape from you. Thank you. It has changed my sewing life. Only took 53 years. Told my mum about is and she thought it is a great idea as well. I enjoy hand hemming. Yu get a better finish.

I love your tutorials, you inspire me to draft my own patterns which really saves money and is much more creative. Great job as always

Yeah, there are tons of other tutorials out there, but having one from someone that you "know" and trust makes all the difference . I've messed up a few skirts in the past because the instructions were not clear or thorough enough. But this one is so well executed it gives me inspiration and courage to try again :) Thank you as always for the solid content!

Love your videos, been binge watching some of the ones you posted before I found you. Your voice has been a welcome calming addition to my life in what has been a rather crap week. Because of you I am starting to dabble into 40/50's vintage which isn't something I thought I would do! I do have a question as a noob vintage wearer, are you wearing a petticoat under your finished skirt at the end or is that just due to the hand of the fabric?

i could use a little help before i attempt such a fete. i am plus size (not sure of my waist measure at the moment, but i wear a 22W in ready to wear. i really want to make a circle skirt, but to have it be midi length, does the average cut of fabric allot for making on such size in its width? i realize i'd probably have to make 2 separate panels, but before i go to all the paper work (just going to use kraft roll), i'd like to know if its beginner able before i begin. i appreciate any input. thanks. AND, i love your rambles. makes it all more colorful and enjoyable to watch.

Why not cut it on the bias? I've often seen that done.

Why is this the first pattern tutorial that shows how to fold the damn fabric. I know how to measure and cut but I can’t wrap my head around how to fold the fabric! So thank you this has literally saved me from a crisis.

Love the twirl! I prefer full circle skirts - I always have. The longer the better. I have had to go shorter in my mobility device - a good rule of thumb if one needs to use a mobility device, don’t have a skirt that is so long it will catch in/under wheels.

Thank you for being so patient and explaining the zipper process so clearly...again! I prefer a lapped zipper but haven't been very successful. Now I know why. Your 'rambling explanations' suit me just fine.

I feel so safe and comfortable with your tutorials. I took my first sewing class in 7th grade, circa 1972, when Home Economics was still a thing, and we only used woven fabrics. I love working with woven fabrics. There is nothing so satisfying as two perfectly sewn armhole facings, interfaced, hemmed, and understitched, in crisp cotton. Sigh…

Great point on letting the skirt hang overnight. It’s been many many yrs ago but I had decided a chiffon over skirt would be a good idea. I only hung it up because I had been working for several hrs. When I came back I almost fell over. When the bias relaxed it looked like it had been cut with a spoon. Lol. Fyi for anyone that has this happen never remeasure/ cut unless you have it on a person or manikin adjusted for the person. If you attempt this hanger, it will hang different every time you cut & hang it up, like sewing gremlins inhabited the skirt. This skirt is beautiful… love the bias edged seams, Even w/ a serger I do this w/ some fabric, & yes sometimes because I don’t want to change the thread. Lol. Looks great!

The saying was " there's more than one way to skin a catfish" ...over the years the fish was dropped....so they were not actually talking of skinning I do like your saying better, there's more than one way to add a zip...lol...

The finish on the side seams looks so satisfying it almost makes me forget how much I hate finishing seams
