I don't 100% understand the Trinity, but I don't expect to, and I 100% believe in it anyway. Scripture makes the Trinity very clear.

Thank you for this. When I saw the title I was worried it was going to be one of the verses that they actually hear tauted against them over and over but it never really convinces them because they've been taught to filter it and understand it in a particular way that fits their theology. E.g., John 1:1, any verse about Jesus "at the right hand of the Father, " Matthew 28:19, etc.

Instead, John 8 was never taught in detail while I was in the UPCI, and when I was reading it myself once, verses 17-18 really stuck out to me and nagged at me, motivating me to keep studying until realized I was wrong about Oneness.

I try to bring this verse up to my best friend who is Pentecostal, but he just brushes it off and says I’m “limiting God” by making him be non contradictory…feels like he just can’t see that the trinity accounts for more of scripture wholly than oneness can ever.
