What a game for the blue jays! Kiermaier with the great catches, Gausman with the strikeouts, and the deep shots by Bo and Chapman! A great day for the jays.

This was an important series win for the Blue Jays for their second series win in a row after their slump in May. Gaus had a great start, and Bo and Chappy got the scoring started early for the Jays with a couple of homers in the first inning. Congrats to the Jays on another win from an Astros fan and looking forward to our series against you guys next week

K Gausman had a Mario star in his pocket on this day. Remarkable performance. Wish he was still with the Giants :(

Great game to cap off back-to-back series wins against two division leaders. I would still say they're not back to playing really good baseball, but you can see some good returning to the team. May was marred with horrible baserunning, ice cold bats, too many errors, the list goes on. However, the last handful of games have been just solid foundational baseball. Nothing extravagant yet, but something to ride on to return to who they are and definitely can be.

Manoah is my last big question mark at this point. He has the stuff but 2 months completed, he hasn't re-found it and retains a 1-6 record with an ERA well over 5. Never would have thought he'd be the clear weak link in the rotation this year. They clearly can't send him down because Tiedemann's recovering and White is just getting absolutely shelled. I hate to even consider it, but a trade may have to be considered down the line. I still do say we give him another month and be optimistic about it, but holding him just because he has a high potential ceiling just won't do when he's been nothing but a liability. Jays have to bank on the potential that he may have peaked already and trade for a lower ceiling, but more reliable starting pitcher. If they hold him way too long, he'll lose any incentive as a trade and may just continue to be either a question mark or a flat out liability. Even if another team takes him, trains him into a prime pitcher and it "backfires", a reliable starter now is what the Jays need. Crawled out of the AL East basement, 3-4 games behind the Yankees, 4-5 games behind the O's, they absolutely need to keep riding this momentum and can't afford most likely losing every 5th day.

I don't realistically expect this hypothetical trade to happen. Even if it did, I don't expect a return of a true ace like Gausman. However, the pitching side should be the Jays' biggest focus at this point. The bats do go ice cold here and there, but I don't worry about it long term, and they have the tenacity to string them together over time. The defence has been great too. The biggest problem long term will be not having a 5th day starter, and the uncertainty of a couple arms in the bullpen. I absolutely know this likely won't happen, but I'd love to see Stroman return to the SP and Hendriks return to the BP. Fiery souls who can rise to the occasion and fight for the win. We see it a lot in Bassitt, and I think that trio would be pretty deadly.

Gausman is proving himself to be a serious CY Young contender this year

Nice win! Note to the editors: please show the hits at least once, instead of 5 different looks at other plays. Thanks.

Gausman up to 100 strikeouts this season. Most in the AL, 2nd most in the majors.

Pitch to contact seems to have worked out just fine for the Jays
